Saturday Clinic Recap – May 9, 2015

THIS WEEK’S CORE VALUE: SPORTSMANSHIP
A feeling of “I can do it!”

HEALTHY HABIT
Protect yourself! Hot summer days are approaching. Be sure to keep hydrated by having a water bottle and drinking plenty of water. Also using sunscreen and protective clothing will keep you performing at your best.

RULES AND ETIQUETTE
DID YOU KNOW…? That you may roll a ball over the putting green to a fellow competitor (stroke play) or opponent (match play), providing you are not doing so to test the surface. Decision 16-1d/1.

SWING TIP OF THE WEEK
Want to hit more consistent wedge shots? Try putting more weight on your leading leg (left leg if you are right handed), and keep your head as still as possible throughout the entire swing. This should help you stay very stable and allow you to be more accurate.

Saturday Clinic Recap – May 2, 2015

THIS WEEK’S CORE VALUE: SPORTSMANSHIP
Playing by the rules and acting nice to others, no matter if you are winning or losing.

HEALTHY HABIT
What do you want to happen? That is the question that must be answered when you visualize your goals. If you can see it in mind’s eye, you can accomplish it.

RULES AND ETIQUETTE
DID YOU KNOW…? That you may use any club in your bag for the purpose of measuring club-lengths, including a long-handled putter if you carry one. Decision 20-2.

SWING TIP OF THE WEEK
When executing a fairway bunker shot there are a couple of key tips: you should first grip down on the club. This should help with hitting ball first (never want to hit sand first out of fairway bunker). Next, keeping your legs very still throughout the swing will allow you to stay more level and pick the ball cleanly off of the sand. LOCAL TOURNAMENT INFORMATION – MAY 2015
5/16-5/17 – Jr Tour Championship Event #4 (Turtle Creek – Tequesta, FL)
5/24 – Gold Tour (Hollybrook Golf & Tennis – Pembroke Pines, FL)
5/16 – US Kids Spring Tour 2015 (Osprey Point Golf Course)
5/23 – US Kids Spring Tour 2015 (Indian Spring Country Club)
5/30 – US Kids Spring Tour 2015 Ocean Breeze G&CC (Tour Championship)

GOLF SKILLS PRACTICED THIS WEEK
This week the clinic focused on short game and hitting from a fairway bunker.

CORE VALUE MOMENT OF THE WEEK
Even when you are the last one on the golf course, you are tired, and the bag is almost as big as you, it is your Responsibility to carry your own clubs.
